Position Profile
The Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau (BHCVB) Group Sales Director, Western Region, under the direction of the Senior Director of Group Sales and the CEO, will be responsible for selling Beverly Hills as a desirable meeting & incentive destination to domestic markets, as well as attracting and servicing domestic city-wide groups to Beverly Hills. The position’s success will be defined in accordance with the number of new documented contacts and accounts developed, sales leads generated for multihotel groups and conversion of leads into definite room nights at Beverly Hills hotels.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and execute MICE sales plan in conjunction with Sr. Director Group Sales to achieve goals within domestic meetings and incentive markets.
• Maintain knowledge of and act as “destination specialist” for meetings and event spaces, including local restaurants as well as general knowledge of city ordinances for public space events.
• Foster and maintain positive relationships with industry partners to help disseminate information on industry trends and opportunities as well as stay informed about their product and services.
• Manage annual group sales initiative budgets in accordance with BHCVB’s Strategic Plan.
• Develop sales tools and materials as needed including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, new systems, procedures, manuals, etc.
• Involvement in industry trade organizations such as SITE, MPI and the California DMO Alliance for networking opportunities, knowledge of industry best practices and sourcing opportunities for potential partnerships and collaborative sales opportunities.
Lead Generation and Conversion
• Utilize CVENT and the BHCVB database to source leads to hotels, restaurants, event venues and other local businesses and convert these leads into booked business.
• Generate single and multi-hotel bookings from group, association, corporate and incentive clients through personal sales calls, electronic and telephone solicitation, tradeshow and industry event attendance and sales driven client events.
• Work with planners whose events have converted, to help set up itineraries, experiences, gifts, etc.
• Conduct ongoing research of competitor group strategies and conversions and target those groups for future prospecting and consideration. Maintain knowledge and updated information on competitive hotels and competitive destinations.
• Identify other external sources in conjunction with the Sr. Director of Group Sales to source additional contacts and groups that would be a good fit for Beverly Hills.
Research and Reporting
• Analyzes trade show values to determine best return on BHCVB’s investment.
• Produce management facing monthly, quarterly and annual reports as well as ad hoc reports to track results from all sources.
Qualifications/Requirements
• Must be willing to travel at least once a month.
• Has 5 or more years of group sales experience with proven results in a hotel or destination marketing organization.
• Be able to demonstrate familiarity with trade show selling (preferably appointment-based shows), site tours and hosting targeted client events and fams.
• Strong communication and public speaking skills.
• Self-directed, energetic professional who enjoys being part of a small, close-knit network of colleagues.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Attention to detail, organization, creativity and flexibility.
• An intimate knowledge of Beverly Hills is desired.
• Knowledge of SalesForce.com and CVENT is preferred.
• Basic social media knowledge of LinkedIn Navigator.
