Group Manager - Structural Inspections

Pay Range: $150,000.00 – $200,000.00 per year.

The Group Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of an internal team of structural inspection specialists. The incumbent independently applies extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices, provides technical leadership, and ensures ethical and professional conduct in both technical and managerial activities.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides expertise in complex engineering computations involving conventional engineering practices.
- Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in line with plans and specifications.
- Oversees the use of computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
- Is active in technical societies.
- Publishes engineering papers and/or articles.
- Serves as a senior project manager or senior project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact.
- Assists the Regional Manager in Business Development efforts.
- Supervises and monitors client relationship strategies.
- Successfully develops and maintains meaningful relationships with clients.
- Is available to attend meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
- Supervises a selected group of employees and support staff; manages staff and is responsible for technical training, career development, and performance of all assigned staff.
- Serves as a coach for engineering and technical staff.
- Responsible for identifying, recruiting, and retaining qualified technical personnel.
- Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
- Ensures that staff requiring specialized training in health and safety procedures receive such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.
- Follows established communication processes and systems to ensure effective communication with staff, clients, and corporate office.
- Other duties may be assigned.
