Job summary

Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Group Leader Trainee - Paint (2nd Shift) to model positive leadership, supervise teams, and promote the Production System.

You will develop team members, align with safety, quality, and productivity goals, and lead continuous improvement initiatives such as Kaizen, with responsibility for compliance and performance.

Qualifications

• Certificate/Associate Degree in Organizational Leadership or related field.
• 4+ years supervisory/leadership experience.
• Willingness to take and follow direction and demonstrate problem solving.
• Ability to lead, motivate and hold self and others accountable.
• Ability to present to company officers and lead Kaizen/CI activities.
• Demonstrate initiative, self-motivation and respect for others.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates a positive role model for Associates to promote team success.
• Maintains familiarity with duties and skill levels of Team Members and monitors performance.
• Responsible for assessment and development of Team Members' performance.
• Teaches and promotes the Production System to Team Leaders and Members.
• Ensures compliance with Company Policies and takes corrective actions as needed.
• Aligns leadership styles to Subaru's Principles and values.
• Plans and leads activities related to Safety, Quality, and productivity.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Group Leader's Manager(s).

Manufacturing Department

Outline of duties:

• Demonstrates a positive role model for all Associates to promote each Team Member’s success.


• Maintains familiarity with all job duties and skill levels of all Team Members and monitors events that may affect Team performance.


• Responsible for the assessment and development of each Team Member’s performance.


• Understands, teaches, and promotes the SIA Production System to all Team leaders and Team Members.


• Ensure compliance with all Company Policies and procedures and take appropriate corrective actions, if necessary.


• Aligns leadership styles to that of SIA’s Principles and values.


• Plans, monitors, and leads activities according to Plant and Section goals related to Safety, Quality, and productivity.


• Performs other duties as assigned by the Group Leader’s Manager(s).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certificate/Associate Degree in Organizational Leadership or related field.


• 4+ years Supervisory/Leadership experience.


• Must be willing to give and take direction.


• Demonstrated problem solving ability.


• Ability to lead, motivate, and hold self and others accountable.


• Demonstrate behaviors which require initiative and self-motivation.


• Ability to treat others with Dignity and Respect.

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS Degree in Organizational Leadership or related field.


• Experience in an Automotive Manufacturing Environment.
