Job summary

ASPIRA, Inc. of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia seeks dedicated staff to assist in day-to-day operations of its programs, including Homework Assistance, enrichment activities, and nutrition services for Kinder through 5th grade.

Candidates may hold a high school diploma with college credits in related fields or a GED with experience; bilingual Spanish/English preferred. Knowledge of Puerto Rican, Latino, and African American communities is valued, and familiarity with Philadelphia schools is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with college credits in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or human services.
• Alternate pathway with GED and 15 college credits plus 1 year of experience with children.
• Alternative pathway with 600+ hours of secondary training (per 3270.31(c)).
• Alternative pathway with 2 years of experience with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day operations of ASPIRA programs.
• Support Homework Assistance and enrichment activities (Visual Arts, Music, Performing Arts).
• Coordinate nutritional services support as part of the program.

Job description

Requirements

• A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.
• A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
• A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, with at least 600 or more hours of secondary training described in 3270.31(c) (relating to age and training).
• A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 2 years' experience with children.
• Knowledge of the Puerto Rican, Latino, and African American community and the resources available.
• Knowledge of the Philadelphia School System and curriculum standards for children Kinder through 5th grade.
• Bilingual/bicultural (Spanish/English) preferred.
