Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Group Leader for the Stable Isotope Chemical Research and Processing (SCRP) Group within the ESSD division. This role leads 8–15 professionals, overseeing chemical-processing capability, safety, quality, and scalable operations at ORNL’s isotope facilities.

The successful candidate will drive research, development, and deployment of processing methods for enriched materials, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards while advancing

Qualifications

• PhD/MS/BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or closely related field.
• Demonstrated leadership of technical personnel, projects, or operations.
• Experience operating, improving, or deploying chemical/process systems.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct line management for SCRP staff including staffing, performance, and development.
• Lead safe, efficient, and high-quality chemical processing and harvesting of enriched material.
• Guide R&D, qualification, optimization, and deployment of processing methods for new elements and campaigns.
• Establish scalable processes, work instructions, and staffing plans to support growth.
