Job summary

The Coffman YMCA in Springboro, Ohio seeks a part-time Group Exercise Instructor for Silver Sneakers to provide safe, engaging instruction and motivation to members. Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED; six months of class participation or assistant experience; certifications such as Personal Training or Group Exercise

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2-year degree preferred in Physical Education/Exercise Science or related field.
• Certifications such as Personal Training or Group Exercise Instructor are helpful.
• Minimum of six months class participation or fitness class assistant experience.

Responsibilities

• Leads fitness and related classes following YMCA standards and guidelines.
• Communicates and enforces wellness center rules.
• Trains participants in a demonstrative and professional manner.
• Watches and corrects participants for unsafe practices.
• Promotes wellness and other YMCA programs.
• Arrives 10 to 15 minutes prior to class to start duties.
• Sets up and takes down class equipment.
• Begins and ends every class on time.
• Takes attendance and ensures participants are registered.
• Educates members on appropriate attire for group classes.
• Teaches entire session and arranges subs when needed.
• Develops positive relationships with members and provides motivation.
