Job summary

The YMCA of Central Ohio in Hilliard, OH is seeking part-time Group Fitness Instructors to lead safe, engaging classes such as Silver Sneakers, Yoga, Barre, Water Fitness and HIIT. You will prepare routines, set up equipment, and help members achieve their wellness goals.

Must hold a current NCCA Group Fitness Certification (ACE, NETA, or AFAA) and CPR/First Aid/AED within 30 days. Flexible hours, excellent customer service, and ability to relate to diverse groups are essential.

Qualifications

• Passionate belief in nurturing youth and healthy living.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Proof of current NCCA Group Fitness Certification (ACE, NETA, or AFAA) and Specialty/Trademarked Certification upon hire (e.g. cycling, yoga, Pilates, Zumba®, Pound®, Les Mills BODYPUMP).
• Instructor is responsible to keep all certifications current and in good standing.
• Outgoing personality with a natural ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to promote programs and services.
• Willing to work flexible work hours based on evolving needs of the members, class coverage and schedule adjustments.
• Successful completion of class instruction demo by supervisor or designee upon hire.
• Must have CPR/First aid & AED certification within the first 30 days of employment; all YMCA Central Ohio trainings must be completed by the required date.

Responsibilities

• Instructs safe, effective, and fun group exercise classes in a positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
• Lead classes such as Silver Sneakers, Yoga, Barre, Water fitness, and HIIT Aerobics.
• Record class attendance and maintain a minimum target attendance with growth.
• Set up equipment for class and assist with equipment cleaning before and after sessions.
• Maintain equipment and keep the group exercise area clean.
• Participate in Community Outreach campaigns and share announcements as directed by supervisor.
