Job summary

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties seeks an Exercise Instructor to lead group exercise classes at the Tacoma Center YMCA. You will create a safe, engaging atmosphere focused on member safety and participation, teaching methods that support all fitness levels.

Requirements include 1+ year experience, a relevant certification (preferred), CPR/First Aid/AED and a commitment to inclusive, diverse programs. Part-time schedule with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience leading group exercise classes.
• Certification in Group Exercise or related specialty (preferred).
• Certifications such as YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and/or Foundations of Group Exercise or equivalent (ACE/ACSM/AFAA) preferred.
• Positive attitude and experience with diverse populations.
• Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, AED, and Oxygen certifications preferred.
• Must be able to pass background and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Conduct energizing, safe, and educational group classes.
• Design classes to improve flexibility, strength, muscular endurance, and cardio-respiratory fitness.
• Demonstrate techniques with varying intensity levels.
• Build relationships with members and promote retention.
• Maintain equipment organization and assist with program statistics.
