Job summary

Canonical, a leader in open source software and Ubuntu, seeks a Group Financial Controller. The role operates home-based within the EMEA time zones, with potential London office basis, reporting to the Chief Financial Officer.

You will drive controls, policy upgrades, and robust reporting in a global, cross‑functional environment. You will lead audits, evolving regulatory compliance and the adoption of sensible AI and finance systems, while mentoring accounting staff and managing stakeholder

Qualifications

• IFRS accounting knowledge required.
• Advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
• Proactive, analytical mindset with drive for process improvement.
• Experience with enterprise accounting systems (ERP).
• Ability to travel internationally up to twice a year.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of internal controls to mitigate process risks.
• Drive policy and procedure improvements to support scalable growth.
• Oversee month‑end, year‑end close and reporting processes for accuracy.
• Manage external audits and regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
• Lead finance system upgrades and prudent AI adoption within the team.
• Mentor junior accounting staff and communicate with internal/external stakeholders.
