Job description

GROUP EXPERIENCE DESIGN LEADER 5746

Direct Hire | Hybrid (Atlanta Area)

Were partnering with an established organization that is building out its Experience Design practice and is looking for a senior Experience Design Leader to shape end-to-end experiences across several major customer-facing areas.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can move comfortably between experience strategy, service design, facilitation, and UX/UI execution. The right person will think beyond the digital interface and look at the full experience, including the customer journey, internal workflows, people, technology, data, and processes required to bring that experience to life.

What Youll Do
  • Shape the experience vision across multiple customer-facing products and help turn that vision into actionable design priorities.
  • Lead journey mapping, persona development, service blueprinting, and design-thinking work to understand the complete customer experience.
  • Facilitate workshops with Product, technology, operations, marketing, compliance, and business leaders to uncover problems and align teams around solutions.
  • Map both the customer-facing experience and the people, systems, data, and processes happening behind the scenes to identify opportunities for meaningful improvement.
  • Personally create UX concepts, workflows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished designs while also providing strategic design leadership.
  • Lead discovery and research efforts that help teams better understand customer behaviors, needs, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Translate complex findings into clear recommendations that can influence product strategy and broader transformation efforts.
  • Partner closely with Product and engineering teams from early discovery through build, testing, and launch.
  • Help establish strong design practices, standards, and ways of working as the organization continues to build its internal Experience Design capability.
  • Present work and recommendations to senior leaders and confidently explain the thinking and research behind design decisions.
What Were Looking For
  • Significant experience in experience design, service design, UX, or digital product design, including experience leading complex initiatives.
  • Deep experience with service blueprinting, customer journeys, personas, design thinking, and workshop facilitation.
  • Strong systems thinking with the ability to connect the visible customer experience to underlying workflows, teams, technology, and operational processes.
  • Proven hands-on UX/UI skills with a portfolio demonstrating both strategic experience work and strong design execution.
  • Experience leading complex discovery efforts and turning research into actionable experience and product decisions.
  • Ability to facilitate senior, cross-functional groups and create alignment when priorities or perspectives differ.
  • Strong understanding of usability, accessibility, responsive experiences, and modern design practices.
  • Experience partnering closely with Product, technology, and business teams to take ideas from discovery through implementation.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
  • Experience mentoring designers or helping develop a broader design practice.
Nice to Have
  • Experience within insurance, healthcare, financial services, or another highly regulated environment.
  • Experience designing complex service experiences that span both digital and non-digital touchpoints.
  • Background supporting large-scale transformation or service redesign initiatives.
  • Experience with Figma and modern prototyping and design tools.
  • Familiarity with design systems and accessibility standards such as WCAG.
The Opportunity

This role is about much more than designing a great interface. The organization is looking for someone who can step back and understand the complete experience a customer goes through, then connect that experience to everything that needs to happen behind the scenes to make it successful.

Its a strong opportunity for an Experience Design leader who loves facilitation, journeys, personas, service design, and complex problem-solving, but who still wants to roll up their sleeves and personally design.
