Job summary

West Suburban YMCA in Newton, MA is seeking an experienced Yoga Instructor to lead group classes on Tuesday evenings at 5 PM and on weekends. The role focuses on safe, engaging instruction that supports member wellness in line with YMCA policies.

Applicants should hold CPR, First Aid, AED and a national group fitness certification (ACE/NETA/AFAA/NASM) or YMCA Foundations certification. Experience teaching group wellness is preferred; YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certs within 60 days are required

The WSYMCA is seeking experienced and qualified Group Exercise Instructors to join our team at the Y!

Pay range is $30- $35, dependent upon experience, certifications and education.

We are currently searching specifically for a Yoga Instructor to join our team at Church Street for Tuesday nights at 5PM and weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Instructs group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Leads energizing, fun, safe, and educational group classes, as directed by the supervisor, to accomplish the YMCA mission and goals.

Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living. Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.

Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members connect with each other and the YMCA.

Keeps accurate class attendance records.

Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required certifications: CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification.

Certification in areas of expertise.

YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire.

At least one year of experience teaching group wellness classes preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to conduct classes and activities.

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting.
