Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey is seeking a Group Counselor to provide therapeutic and recreational group activities and leisure assessments for assigned patient caseloads, including psycho-educational groups and grief or substance abuse counseling.

Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field with 1 year healthcare experience; Masters preferred. Competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field.
• Minimum 1 year relevant work experience in a healthcare setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provides therapeutic activities/leisure assessment and counseling services to assigned patient groups.
• Completes the Group Counselor Assessment of the patient within 48 hours of admission.
• Provides a minimum of four therapeutic groups per day, an evening group one day per week, and weekend groups on assigned units.
• Develops a plan of care for the patient that reflects assessed needs, strengths, preferences and goals.
• Completes documentation of patient's progress toward achieving goals in weekly progress notes and treatment plans.
