Job summary

AXA XL in the United States is seeking an Associate Underwriter for Group Captives to contribute to underwriting strategies and the growth of the Group Captives portfolio. You will build and maintain relationships with brokers and insureds, manage renewals and target accounts, and support risk evaluation and settlement input.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
• Strong technical knowledge of group captives.
• Able to apply business understanding to set direction within the segment or function.
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong sales and marketing abilities.
• Advanced organizational, time-management and multi-tasking skills, with a strong work ethic.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to respond to a changing environment with flexibility and innovation.
• Advanced customer service and negotiation skills, and a proven track record in developing strong business relationships with brokers and insureds.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite, manage and service a renewal book, and produce new business in accordance with business unit goals.
• Develop, underwrite, manage and service a portfolio of Group Captive programs.
• Build the AXA XL reputation in North America within the Group Captive industry.
• Exercise discretion and independent judgement in the analysis and evaluation of risk.
• Mentor and provide leadership to peers in risk assessment discussions.
• Negotiate with captive intermediaries and producers within delegated authority to achieve profit objectives.
• Build and enhance relationships with captive intermediaries, producers and clients and establish new distribution relationships.
• Promote the company’s expertise by participating in industry conferences and events, and lead client/broker meetings to educate on risk.
• Maintain compliance with underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
• Support planning/forecasting; monitor financial exposure and premium income.
• Maintain awareness of claims advised and input on settlements.
• Identify new product opportunities and cross-market with AXA XL lines.
