Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts is seeking a Groundsperson to join our tree care and vegetation management team in Chesapeake, VA. This full-time role involves working from the ground, using hand and power tools to trim and clear vegetation, and loading materials for removal.

The position requires a valid driver's license and may require CDL; overtime is possible during emergencies. Benefits include health insurance and 401(k), with PTO provisions as part of the package.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Set up and break down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Feed brush into woodchipper and load/unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Operate various trucks and equipment as assigned and perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm.
