Job summary

Almstead Tree and Shrub Care is a second-generation arboriculture firm serving NY, NJ and CT. The Groundsperson supports climbers and crew leader by performing ground duties, assisting in pruning, take-downs, and cabling work while safely operating equipment.

Applicants should have some industry experience or be trainable, be able to lift heavy loads, hold a valid driver's license (CDL preferred), and may benefit from bilingual skills. Competitive benefits and a team-first culture are offered.

Qualifications

• Groundsperson assists climbers and crew leader on tree care tasks.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and occasionally 80–100 lbs with assistance.
• Valid Driver's License; CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform ground duties in support of specific job assignments as directed by crew leader.
• Assist in pruning, take-downs, and installation of cabling and bracing.
• Safely operate equipment and participate in all job site safety briefings.
• Perform proper felling, limbing and bucking techniques with a chainsaw.
• Prune from ground with hand tools and pole saws; use approved rigging knots.
