Job summary

Almstead Tree and Shrub Care is seeking dedicated grounds crew members to support climbers and lead crews in general tree care. You will help with pruning, rigging, and operating equipment on site, while following safety protocols.

The role requires physical capability, experience with chainsaws and related tools, and a valid driver's license with CDL. Bilingual abilities are a plus and a great onboarding into a family-owned arboriculture firm.

Qualifications

• Previous industry experience is desired.
• Knowledge of pruning techniques including large shade trees and ornamentals.
• Ability to operate chainsaw, chipper, stump grinder and log mover.
• Knowledge of native and introduced tree and shrub species and characteristics.
• Ability to lift 50lbs and occasionally 80-100lbs with assistance.
• Valid Driver’s License and CDL.
• Bi-lingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform ground duties in support of job assignments as directed by crew leader.
• Assist in pruning and take-downs, install cabling and bracing.
• Safely operate equipment and participate in safety briefings.
• Perform felling, limbing and bucking with a chainsaw.
• Prune from ground with hand tools and rigging techniques.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
• Set up and clean up job sites.

Basic Function

Grounds people serve a pivotal role on tree care crews, with the primary responsibility of assisting the climbers and crew leader in the performance of all general tree work services.

Responsibilities

• Perform all required ground duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by crew leader.
• Assist in the performance of specialized pruning and take-downs, installing cabling and bracing.
• Safely operate equipment.
• Participate in all job site safety briefings.
• Perform proper felling, limbing and bucking techniques with a chainsaw.
• Perform pruning from the ground with hand tools and pole saws, application of approved rigging techniques and knowledge of standard knots.
• Assist with driving, backing, dumping, and parking duties.
• Perform ground duties such as job site set up and clean up as required.
