Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts, based in Texas, is seeking a full-time Groundsperson to support vegetation management operations. The role involves working from ground level to maintain safe work areas, loading and unloading debris, and assisting with equipment setup and breakdown.

Preferred candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, and may have experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work from ground to keep work area clear of debris using hand tools and equipment.
• Define staging areas and set up/break down materials, tools, and equipment.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Load/unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris.
• Operate various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance on trucks and equipment and report major repairs.
• Ensure safety of employees and the public in the work area.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

• Works from the ground to keep work area clear of debris using handsaws, pole saws and pruners, hand pruners, loppers, and gasoline-powered equipment to cut brush and trees.
• Define staging areas.
• Setting up and breaking down material, tools, and equipment as required.
• Prepare and feed brush into woodchipper.
• Loading and unloading trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris
• Operating various trucks and equipment as assigned.
• Perform basic maintenance service on trucks and equipment; keep trucks and other assigned equipment in neat and orderly fashion; report the need for major repairs to truck and equipment.
• Tying knots, rope breaks, and speed lines according to industry standard.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Flag traffic to protect employees and the public from potential harm or injury.
• Able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies.

This is a full-time position. Specific hours will be assigned by your supervisor. The Groundsperson may be required to work overtime and/or weekends.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
• Valid Driver’s license required. CDL preferred.

Position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
