Job summary

Knife River Corporation in Texas is seeking a Groundman to support daily plant and yard maintenance, ensuring safe, efficient operations around crushers and conveyors. This hands-on role requires teamwork, good communication, and a strong safety mindset.

You will work shifts with potential overtime and be part of a company that emphasizes training, tools, and career growth while going home safely each day.

Qualifications

• Safety first attitude required.
• Ability to pass a criminal background and pre-employment drug screen
• Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure and acceptable driving record
• Basic knowledge of plant operation, conveyor systems, and maintenance.
• Experience working around plants and/or rock crushers.
• Must have good mechanical, troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Positive attitude and the ability to work well with others and follow directions.
• Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (daytime/nighttime).

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring daily maintenance of the plant and yard is completed.
• Responsible for routine and daily housekeeping duties to ensure a clean plant and yard.
• Safely and properly, maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning).
• Shovel excess material away from crusher, screen or wash plant areas.
• May operate small, powered hand tools.
• Lifting, carrying and holding material, tools and supplies.
• Help with daily errands as needed; deliver parts/items between Knife River locations.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Typical hours are Monday - Friday 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM with Saturday as needed. Hours may vary with weather and customer demand.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job)

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

• Extensive walking on uneven surfaces.
• May Lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Exposure to dust, fumes, odors.

• Exposure to mists, adhesives, acids.
• Frequent and/or extended periods requiring kneeling, bending, and/or twisting.
• Working in all weather conditions for extended period of time
