Job summary

The Cobb County School District is seeking a Groundskeeper to support our Maintenance Services team across district campuses. You will assist the head groundskeeper with routine grounds maintenance requests and related tasks to keep outdoor spaces safe and welcoming.

Qualified applicants will have a valid Georgia driver’s license and about 1 year of lawn care/landscaping experience, plus the ability to operate typical grounds equipment.

Qualifications

• Educational level: None.
• Valid Georgia driver’s license is required.
• 1 year experience in lawn care/landscaping preferred.
• Physical requirements include walking, standing, kneeling, stair and ladder negotiation, lifting 75 pounds over short distances.
• Written and oral communication; computer skills; proficient in proper/safe operation of grounds maintenance equipment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Takes direction from head groundskeeper and completes all work timely.
• Promotes good relations with customers, the public and peers.
• Provides 24/7 on-call support.
• Completes and submits paperwork for maintenance database and state/local requirements.
• Maintains district vehicle parts inventory and returns overages to inventory.
• Care for and maintains vehicles and tools used for grounds maintenance.
• Plans, stages and completes equipment maintenance and installation tasks.
• Initiates and completes assigned projects timely and accurately.
• Reports safety issues to administrator.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
