Job summary

Liberty Military Housing in Norfolk, VA, is seeking a Porter/Groundskeeper to maintain grounds, buildings, and amenities across a multi-family community. You will perform cleaning, basic maintenance, operate tools, and support service technicians to ensure safe, welcoming spaces.

Entry-level to 6 months experience accepted; valid driver's license required; able to lift up to 65 lbs; travel to regional locations as needed.

Qualifications

• Entry level to 6 months of general custodial/maintenance experience.
• Beginning level understanding of grounds maintenance.
• Ability to use hand and power tools and cleaning equipment applicable to job requirements.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to operate a company or personal vehicle.
• Ability to travel to other regional locations for work, training, meetings, and other work-related activities.
• Ability to independently lift/carry supplies or equipment up to 65 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of grounds, amenities, building exteriors, district office, pool, recreation areas, parking lots and other areas surrounding the community.
• Removes trash from grounds, office areas, homes, and the surrounding community perimeter daily.
• Details interior and exterior areas using broom, mop, vacuum, rake or blower to keep entry areas clean.
• May help with snow shovelling (where applicable) of sidewalks and other main entry areas.
• Assists in make-ready units including removal of trash from vacant homes and touch-up painting.
• Assists with repairs, replacement and installation of window/door screens, lightbulbs, and fixtures.
• Cleans air conditioning vents, replaces air filters, and smoke detectors.
• Reports maintenance concerns to management and follows safety regulations.
• Operates a company or personal vehicle to travel to various locations for work.
