Job summary

Fermilab is seeking a Groundskeeper to perform landscape maintenance and operate a range of equipment including mowers and heavy machinery. The role is onsite at the Batavia facility and involves heavy physical work with safety as a priority.

You will work under supervision to complete routine landscaping tasks, participate in restoration projects, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations. A valid IL CDL and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required and 1+ year experience in landscape maintenance or related field.
• Valid Illinois DOT Commercial Driver’s License (class A or B) required.

Responsibilities

• Perform mowing, trimming, pruning, plant care, fertilizing and snow removal.
• Haul, spread, and seed topsoil and install erosion controls as needed.
• Operate chainsaws, chippers, and stump grinders for tree removal under supervision.
• Participate in prairie and woodland restoration activities and invasive species control.
• Maintain underground drainage systems and perform physical labor up to 50 lbs.
