Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Amarillo, TX, is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper to maintain landscapes across campus. The role performs routine lawn care, pruning, edging, and seasonal planting while ensuring safe, attractive outdoor spaces.

You will operate mowers, tractors, edgers, and related equipment, perform basic repairs, and help install irrigation components. A High School diploma or GED and at least one year of grounds maintenance experience are required; commercial

Position Description

Performs manual work in the care and maintenance of groundsincluding the care and maintenance of plants, shrubs, lawns, andthe installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems. This job hasno supervisory responsibilities.

Major/Essential Functions

• Utilize push mower on steep incline
• Operates various types of mobile equipment such as tractors,mowers, Rota-vators, and edgers.
• Cuts lawns. Trims and edges around walks, flower beds, andwalls.
• Prunes shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth or removedamaged leaves, branches, or twigs.
• Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, andinsecticides.
• Rakes and bags leaves.
• Cleans grounds and removes litter.
• Shovels snow from walks and driveways.
• Spreads salt on public passageways to prevent ice buildup.
• Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Waters lawn and shrubs.
• Repairs fences, gates, walls, and walks.
• Paints fences and outbuildings.
• Cleans out drainage ditches and culverts.
• Sharpens tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, andshears.
• Makes minor repairs on equipment such as lawnmowers, spreaders,and snow removal equipment.
• Installs, maintains, and repairs signs, fences, barricades, andsprinkler systems.

Required Qualifications

High School or equivalent required; Knowledge of lawn tools,operation, and maintenance. One (1) year of experience in groundsmaintenance including experience in equipment operations.

Preferred Qualifications

At least one year of commercial mowing and landscapingexperience.
