Job summary

The City of High Point is hiring a Groundskeeper responsible for performing grounds maintenance. Starting pay is $17.19 per hour, with tasks including mowing, trimming, and maintaining the golf course.

Groundskeeper

What You'll Do: Starting pay $17.19 per hour. Groundskeeper performs grounds maintenance under the supervision of the Grounds Maintenance Supervisor. Work schedule may include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities:

• Mowing, edging, pruning, trimming, spraying, watering, and chemical treatment of grass, plants and trees.
• Operate tractors and power equipment for golf course maintenance.
• Rake and edge sand traps, prepare seed beds, lay sod, spread seed, lime, fertilizer and straw.
• Weed, mulch, prepare plant beds and plant flowers.
• Assist with irrigation repairs, construct erosion control walls and install drain lines.
• Monitor automatic irrigation system and hand-water greens when necessary.
• Maintain and clean equipment, change cup settings, move tee markers and pick up trash.
• Ensure work complies with OSHA and City Safety Standards and Policies.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with trade tools and equipment.
• Understanding of local, state, federal safety regulations and OSHA.
• Valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds, frequent lifting up to 20 pounds, and ability to walk, stand, climb, squat, bend, and stoop.
