Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Caring for turf: fertilizing, weed control, aerating, seeding, pest control
• Maintaining ornamentals and trees: fertilizing, planting, watering, pest control, pruning, mulching, weed control
• Maintaining campus appearance: trash pickup, parking lot and building trash removal, plaza cleaning
• Routine service and maintenance of grounds vehicles and equipment; reporting issues
• Snow removal: shoveling, plowing, brushing sidewalks and plazas, chemical application
• Irrigation system maintenance and minor repairs
• Care for athletic fields: setup, maintenance
• Holiday light installation and removal
• Completing work orders promptly
• Assisting with maintenance and housekeeping tasks as needed
• Heavy lifting, loading, unloading, moving deliveries
• Operating campus vehicles as required

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position works independently under the supervision of the Grounds Manager, with some direction from the Director of Facilities and Construction.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred; at least three months of groundskeeping experience or education required. Knowledge of fertilizer application, mechanical tools, planting, pruning, irrigation, and transplanting. Experience with grounds equipment and tools. Valid Class A, B, C, or E driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
