Position Summary

Assist in groundskeeping, equipment servicing, and repair tasks within the Grounds Department, supporting the Head Groundskeeper and Assistant Head Groundskeeper.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform groundskeeping duties such as mowing, fertilizing, seeding, aerating, watering, planting, sodding, edging, pruning, weeding, and trimming using tractors, powered mowers, chain saws, chippers, hedge-trimmers, and hand tools.
  • Maintain and repair facilities and equipment, including fences and irrigation lines; clean debris; assist in vehicle and equipment repairs; organize shop.
  • Procure materials and supplies; manage equipment repairs and outside vendor services.
  • Participate in snow and ice removal, including parking lot plowing with various equipment, at any hour.
  • Potential supervision of student employees.
  • Work at different locations as needed and assist in setting up campus signage and patching parking lots.
  • Assist in security functions and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of groundskeeping, landscaping, and basic maintenance operations.
  • Ability to safely transport and operate groundskeeping and maintenance equipment, lifting up to 60 pounds, working safely from ladders and scaffolds.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including long hours and severe weather.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with diverse campus community members.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute positively to the college’s culture.
  • Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior.
  • Promote a flexible, collaborative, and inclusive work environment.
Additional Information

High school diploma or equivalent required; horticultural training and supervisory experience preferred. Valid driver’s license required. The position involves outdoor work, potential handling of hazardous materials, and supervision of part-time staff. Reliable attendance is essential.
