Provide exceptional care to the grounds to attract guests and enhance the aesthetic value of the Wheeling Park Commission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Interact with the public cheerfully, solve guest problems and complaints professionally, and maintain harmonious relationships with colleagues and external contractors.
2. Work independently or with a team to accomplish goals and tasks.
3. Operate and maintain grounds equipment such as blowers, mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, edgers, trucks, dump trucks, utility carts, and tractors if required.
4. Use hand tools for grounds maintenance, including shovels, trowels, rakes, cultivators, posthole diggers, brooms, axes, forks, pruners, loppers, and shears.
5. Plant, water, and maintain flower beds and other plants.
6. Mow, trim, and edge lawns for a manicured appearance.
7. Properly plant, water, and maintain trees and shrubs.
8. Remove weeds and cultivate landscape beds.
9. Keep walkways, parking lots, roadways, and driveways clear of debris and litter.
10. Split, stack, and deliver firewood.
11. Collect trash across the park, including cottages, roadways, parking lots, and shelters.
12. Perform snow removal and ice control using shovels, brooms, ice chemicals, and machinery as required.
13. Prune trees as needed.
14. Remove fallen trees and limbs, and assist with the removal of dead or damaged trees and shrubs.
15. Assist in maintaining irrigation systems.
16. Make minor repairs, maintain clearance, and paint fences and gates.
17. Perform minor repairs to roadways and parking lots.
18. Keep grounds, drainage ditches, and culverts free of litter and debris, including dead animals.
19. Assist in setups and tear-downs for special events, including the Festival of Lights.
20. Perform other related duties as directed.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
