Job summary

Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain outdoor areas and support resort operations with a courteous, guest-focused attitude. The role includes routine landscaping duties, litter control, and preparing outdoor spaces for events.

You will gather litter, water lawns, assist with event setup, perform snow removal, and ensure clean, safe surroundings while upholding uniform standards and safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Preferred- 1 year grounds experience.
  • Candidates must be able to work under limited supervision and in outdoor environments with adverse weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Gather & remove litter from resort property.
  • Water lawns, trees, or plants using portable sprinkler systems, hose, or water cans.
  • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other grounds features.
  • Shovel snow from walks, driveways, or parking lots, and spread salt in those areas for ice removal.
  • Assist with outdoor event setup and tear down; unload freight and deliver shipments.
  • Complete daily paperwork and report hours/wages and supplies for billing purposes.
  • Maintain compliance with safety standards and protect assets and confidential information.
  • Maintain a well-groomed, professional appearance and deliver high customer satisfaction.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Groundskeeper will fulfill the related goals and objectives of the resort while displaying hospitality and professionalism at all times taking pride in representing Chula Vista Resort. The primary responsibilities and duties of the position consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Gather & remove litter from resort property
  • Use hand tools, such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brushtrimmers.
  • Water lawns, trees, or plants using portable sprinkler systems, hose, or water cans Rake, mulch, and compost leaves.
  • Provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, or other grounds features. Assist with landscaping projects
  • Shovel snow from walks, driveways, or parking lots, and spread salt in those areas for ice removal.
  • Haul or spread topsoil, or spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place.
  • Assist with outdoor event set up and tear down. Assist with unloading freight and delivering shipments.
  • Perform the work as assigned on the daily work orders. When applicable report your hours/wages and supplies for billing purposes.
  • Complete all necessary daily paperwork. Assist any and all departments with any jobs that are deemed necessary and a priority across the entire resort.
  • Maintain compliance with all legal requirements, codes, cleanliness and sanitation standards. Work with supervisors to ensure work orders are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Safeguard and protect all company assets in your care.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of customer, company and employee information.
  • Maintain a cooperative working relationship with guests and the entire staff.
  • Recognize areas of the resort that need attention and report them to your supervisor on a daily basis. Complete all obligations; do what has been committed.
  • Maintain a well groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and the situation.
  • Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by insuring you and subordinates provide prompt friendly and quality service.
  • Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by proper use of language to guests and co-workers both in person and on the radios.
  • Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by having complete knowledge of areas of your operation.
  • Create the highest customer satisfaction possible by having clean, sanitary, organized work areas.
  • You are required to be in uniform at all times. Attend staff training seminars as necessary.
OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred- 1 year grounds experience Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: Skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, operation of equipment, and adhere to safety practices. Candidates must be able to work under limited supervision and in outdoor environments with adverse weather conditions or inclement weather.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • *Must be in good physical condition.
  • *Must be able to lift and carry minimum of 50lbs.
  • Body Positions: Walking and standing for an extended periods of time.
  • Body Sense: Have full use of eyes and ears, full power of speech.
  • Body Movements: Walking, turning head and torso, bending arms, wrists, and fingers. A lot of bending movement.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Mathematics: Must be able to do routine math calculations.
  • Language: Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, well enough to give instructions, relay information, and carry on effective interchange with customers, vendors, and company staff.
