Tanque Verde USD is seeking a Groundskeeper to oversee the groundskeeping at 4 school sites. This 12 month position is full-time and benefit eligible.

This position typically reports to building Principals and to the Director of Operations.

Example of Duties

• Ensures the timely and proper mowing and trimming of turf areas including play fields, athletic fields and courtyards.
• Performs seasonal aeration and fertilization of turf areas.
• Performs seasonal transitions of turf areas to weather tolerant turf species. (overseeding)
• Cleans grounds and removes litter.
• Plants grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs.
• Waters turf areas, shrubs and maintains sprinkler systems including making seasonal adjustments to irrigation schedules.
• Repairs irrigation systems including pipes, valves, sprinklers, drippers, and boxes that house devices..
• Properly maintains tools such as weed cutters, edging tools, and shears.
• Performs minor repairs on equipment such as lawn mower, works with maintenance and transportation to ensure timed maintenance tasks are performed.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Knowledge of equipment, tools, procedures of grounds construction and care.
• Knowledge of fertilizers, soil amendments and equipment used in grounds care and gardening.
• Skill in operating grounds maintenance and grounds construction equipment.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to problem-solve and apply good judgment and to know when to ask for help from others.
• Ability to accept direction and modify daily work plans as directed.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds or more; to stand and/or walk for long periods of time; to bend and stoop.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); OR
• One to three months related experience and/or training;
• May require a current Arizona Type D driver's license;
• Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education as approved by the district.
  
  

Starting pay is $16.50 per hour.
