Job summary

Illini Country Club in Springfield, IL invites applicants for a Groundskeeper role, part-time or full-time, to maintain our 18-hole championship golf course with pride.

You will mow, edge, trim, rake, and assist with course setup, safely operate mowers and related equipment, and help ensure a welcoming, pristine environment for members and guests.

Qualifications

• Meet physical demands including standing, walking, bending, and lifting on uneven terrain.
• Able to lift 20-50 pounds occasionally and up to 10 pounds regularly.
• Vision abilities including close and distance vision and color perception.
• Tolerate exposure to machinery, weather, chemicals, and allergens.
• Flexible schedule including some holidays, weekends, and early hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, raking, and debris cleanup.
• Operate riding and walk-behind mowers, trimmers, blowers, and utility vehicles.
• Keep supervisor informed of problems and unusual matters.
• Read and interpret safety rules and maintenance manuals.
• Work with a team to meet department objectives.
• Assist with course setup as required.

We are seeking a motivated, hard-working, detail-oriented part-time or full-time Groundskeeper to assist in the maintenance of our 18-hole championship golf course. Our Groundskeepers maintain turfgrass, bunkers, landscapes, and facilities with a sense of integrity and pride. They are key to providing our members and their guests with an unforgettable golf experience on one of the best courses in Central Illinois.

The key responsibilities of a Groundskeeper on our team are to:

• Through training, become proficient in performing grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, raking, debris cleanup, course setup, and other related duties as required according to established standards.


• Safely operate motorized equipment such as riding and walk-behind mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and utility vehicles.


• Keep supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters coming to his/her attention so prompt action can be taken when appropriate.


• Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.


• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.


• Work well with a team to prioritize a sense of urgency and a real concern for meeting department objectives.

A successful candidate will:

• Be able to meet physical demands including the necessity to stand, walk, reach, use hands/fingers, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on uneven terrain for extended periods of time.


• Be able to exert and lift 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds on a regular and continuing basis to move objects.


• Meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.


• Tolerate conditions of work environment including exposure to operating machinery, vibration, amplified sound, natural botanical allergens, varying weather conditions, particulate matter, electrical components, and agronomic chemicals.


• Be able to work a flexible schedule that may include some holidays, weekends, and early hours.

This is a non-exempt position and will be paid on an hourly basis.
