Job summary

Illini Country Club in Springfield, IL is seeking a Groundskeeper who is motivated, hardworking and detail-oriented to maintain our 18-hole championship golf course and adjacent landscapes. You will work outdoors, perform mowing, edging, trimming and debris cleanup to keep the course in top condition for members and guests.

Responsibilities include operating riding and walk-behind mowers, trimmers and blowers, following safety rules, and coordinating with the team to meet daily objectives.

Qualifications

• Be able to meet physical demands including standing, walking, bending, and occasional reaching.
• Exert and lift 20–50 pounds occasionally, 10–25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds regularly to move objects.
• Meet specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Responsibilities

• Through training, become proficient in mowing, edging, trimming, raking, debris cleanup, course setup and other duties per established standards.
• Safely operate motorized equipment such as riding and walk-behind mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and utility vehicles.
• Keep supervisor informed of problems or unusual matters for prompt action.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Work with a team to prioritize urgency and meet department objectives.

The key responsibilities of a Groundskeeper on our team are to:

• • Through training, become proficient in performing grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, raking, debris cleanup, course setup, and other related duties as required according to established standards.
• • Safely operate motorized equipment such as riding and walk-behind mowers, string trimmers, blowers, and utility vehicles.
• • Keep supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters coming to his/her attention so prompt action can be taken when appropriate.
• • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
• • Work well with a team to prioritize a sense of urgency and a real concern for meeting department objectives.

Our full-time and part-time Groundskeeper positions are nonexempt positions paid on an hourly basis.

Requirements

To be successful as a Groundskeeper at Illini Country Club, one must

• • Be able to meet physical demands including the necessity to stand, walk, reach, use hands/fingers, bend, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on uneven terrain for extended periods of time.
• • Be able to exert and lift 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds on a regular and continuing basis to move objects.
• • Meet specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• • Tolerate conditions of work environment including exposure to operating machinery, vibration, amplified sound, natural botanical allergens, varying weather conditions, particulate matter, electrical components, and agronomic chemicals.
• • Be able to work a flexible schedule that may include some holidays, weekends, and early hours.
