Job summary

Encore Village of Schaumburg is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper to maintain outdoor spaces, plant beds, mulch, weed, edge, water, and keep the grounds welcoming for residents and prospective tenants.

Responsibilities include snow removal, trash pickup, pruning trees and shrubs, general maintenance, and ensuring a safe working environment. A valid driver's license is required; janitorial or landscaping background is helpful. Must pass background checks as part of the application.

• Maintain safe working environment by following procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Perform snow removal and salting of sidewalks and entrances; operate snow blower.
• Perform light maintenance/painting as needed.

Job description

Encore Village of Schaumburg is currently hiring for a full time Groundskeeper. The full time Groundskeeper will be responsible for creating the first impression for our current residents as well as prospective residents by maintaining Encore Village of Schaumburg grounds.

Essential Functions

• Maintain grounds and flowerbeds to include (mulch, weed, plant flowers, cultivate, edge, water, and perform seasonal cleanup).
• Perform general cleaning of grounds by picking up papers and trash; cleaning parking lots, curbs, underground parking garages, and all entrances to building.
• Remove trash by emptying trash containers; transporting materials to disposal area.
• Trim and prune trees and shrubs.
• Maintains safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Perform snow removal, shoveling, snow blower operation, salting sidewalks and entrances, cleaning snow from vehicles.
• Perform light maintenance/painting as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Physical Activities

• Constantly standing, walking, talking, hearing, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, feeling, grasping, crouching, crawling, kneeling, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive movement.
• Occasionally sitting, driving, climbing stairs, ladders or other climbing and balancing.

Range of Motion

• Constantly being able to move from waist to shoulder and waist and below height.
• Occasionally being able to move from shoulder and above.

Weight Lifting Requirements

• Being able to lift up to 100 lbs.

Vision Requirements

• Constantly utilizing color vision (identifying and distinguishing colors), peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Exposure

• Constantly operating a motor vehicle, hand/power tools, and other equipment.
• Occasionally being exposed to biohazard materials, chemical hazards, and body fluids/blood.
• Required to wear protective clothing, hearing protection, and respiratory protection other than surgical mask.
