Job summary

Lake Dallas Independent School District is seeking a Groundskeeper to maintain safe, attractive grounds and athletic fields at the Lake Dallas facilities. This nonexempt, full-time role reports to the Director of Facilities & Operations and requires a valid Texas driver's license.

Responsibilities include mowing and detailing grounds, watering and fertilizing beds, assisting with field prep, sprinkler system work, and ensuring safe operation of landscaping equipment.

Qualifications

Valid Texas driver's license required.
Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and supervisors.
Ability to operate power-driven equipment safely.
Experience level indicated as None in the posting.

Responsibilities

Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.
Follow maintenance plans for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers with watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, and weed control.
Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering and mulching; manage beds and weeds.
Plant shrubs and vegetation as needed.
Assist with athletic field prep, including chalking fields.
Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse.
Assist with inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Primary Purpose:

Maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district. Maintain athletic fields.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Grounds and Landscaping

Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.
Follow scheduled maintenance plans to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds.

Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.

Safety

Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing.
Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
Help keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing etc.

Tools/Equipment Used:

Tractor and mower, riding and power mower, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, chainsaw, garden and hand tools, posthole auger, aerator. Light truck or van and trailer.

Working Conditions:

Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, heavy lifting and

carrying. Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Continual exposure to extreme

weather temperatures, loud noises, and chemicals, such as herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers.

Frequent districtwide travel.
