Job summary

Forney ISD is hiring for a position responsible for maintaining safe and attractive grounds and landscaping throughout the district. This includes mowing, caring for trees and shrubs, and preparing athletic fields for games.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Texas commercial driver’s license and skills in operating landscaping equipment. Some experience is preferred. This position requires the ability to follow safety procedures and communicate effectively.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate a truck and trailer for transporting grounds keeping equipment.
• Eligible for Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Some experience preferred.

Job Description

Maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district.

Responsibilities

• Mow and detail all district grounds, including athletic fields.
• Care for trees, shrubs, and flowers by watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, caring for beds, and controlling weeds.
• Plant shrubs and vegetation.
• Assist with the preparation of athletic fields for games, including chalking fields.
• Water grounds and apply fertilizer.
• Collect and dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and refuse from district facilities.
• Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
• Maintain accurate, updated records of preventive maintenance.
• Operate tools, equipment, and machinery according to prescribed safety procedures.
• Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
• Transport workers and equipment to work sites throughout the district.
• Work irregular hours as needed.

Education/Certification

• Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B).

Special Knowledge / Skills
