Job SummaryPerforms a full range of grounds maintenance and gardening duties; assists in various related construction and landscaping projects; and prepares other special venues according to the user's request or published specifications.
Essential Functions30% - Mows lawns, trims, prunes trees, fertilizes, maintains irrigation systems, waters, sweeps walkways and building entry ways
25% - Performs herbicide and pesticide applications, digs trenches, cultivates, plants and transplants, spreads mulch, rakes leaves/debris
20% - Operate various grounds equipment, such as tractors, mowers, edger's, trimmers, spreaders, aerators, top dressers, etc.
25% - Moves equipment and outdoor fixtures; operates parking lot sweepers and dump truck; empties trash receptacles; ensures safe working conditions and other duties as assigned
Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED
ORAn equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation.
Desired QualificationsA. Experience working grounds maintenance in a large property (20 acres or more) .
B. Experience working on gardening beds and/or planting trees
C. Experience with procedures related to irrigation systems
D. Experience overseeding and fertilizing turf
E. Experience using heavy equipmentsuch as tractors and mowers
Special Working Conditions- Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
- Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
- Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
- May require numerous evenings or weekends
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
