Kishwaukee College is seeking a Grounds Worker to assist with the maintenance of the college’s grounds and landscaping. The role focuses on mowing lawns, trimming bushes, weed control, and keeping outdoor spaces attractive and safe for students and staff.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma and 1–3 years of grounds/landscaping experience, plus strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and with diverse groups on campus.

Responsabilidades

• Maintain Grounds and landscape of College; mow lawns, maintain landscaping, trim bushes, weed, mulch, and keep campus attractive.
• Maintain campus cleanliness by emptying trash, raking leaves, and removing debris.
• Maintain athletic fields for practices and games.
• Seasonally excavates dirt; remove snow; maintain walkways.
• Pruning trees and bushes and planting trees and shrubs.

The Grounds Worker is responsible in the assistance in the maintenance of the grounds and landscaping of the college.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to apply principles of rational systems, (i.e. internal combustion engines, electric wiring systems, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables)
• Demonstrate clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
• Provide strong and clear communication, customer service, and inter-personal skills
• Ability to work independently
• Able to cooperatively work with diverse groups of students and staff

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years’ experience related to general grounds and landscaping maintenance

Preferred Qualifications

Physical Demands

• Work is normally performed in an outdoor setting and when necessary, in an indoor setting; this position requires reach, standing, walking, repetitive motions for the appropriate maintenance of the grounds
• This position has activity that requires the incumbent to lift 50lbs on occasions; 20lbs frequently, and 10lbs consistently.
