Job summary

The George Washington University’s Facilities Department is seeking a full-time Landscape Gardener, Equipment Operator to maintain university grounds across campuses. Work hours are 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, and the position reports to the Grounds Foreman.

This on-site role is part of SEIU Local 32BJ and involves routine grounds care and use of hand tools. Core duties include operating turf maintenance equipment and powered tools, watering landscapes, and keeping grounds tidy.

Qualifications

• GW Facilities Department grounds maintenance involves using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, and hedge trimmers.
• This role requires routine grounds care including watering lawns, trees, and plants with portable sprinklers or hoses.
• Work schedule is 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, on-site.

Responsibilities

• Operate specialized turf maintenance equipment such as vertifier, aerification machine and verticut seeder.
• Operate tractors and front-end equipment; may gather and remove litter and perform general grounds upkeep.
