Job summary

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking a Plant Engineering maintenance worker to support grounds, building upkeep, and preventative maintenance across our facilities. The role requires a valid Florida driver license and 2–3 years of maintenance experience.

Candidates should be comfortable handling basic electrical and mechanical tasks, and assisting in projects across multiple sites. The position offers benefits aligned with hospital staffing and opportunities in a large health system

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred.
• Two to three years general maintenance mechanic experience including basic electrical and mechanical work is preferred.
• License/Registration/Certification: Florida Driver License with no more than 4 points.

Responsibilities

• Empties trash cans and maintains grounds as scheduled.
• Powers, washes and removes gum from entrances; blows parking areas as scheduled.
• Digs trenches for piping, sprinkler heads, and plants; performs concrete work as required.
• Installs signs, paints road markings, and maintains sidewalks and parking areas.
• Maintains and inspects life safety issues and assists other trades as needed.
• Conducts preventive maintenance and safety checks on grounds and equipment.
• Inspects equipment, reports repairs, and assists in construction or remodeling projects.

Responsibilities

• Empties all trash cans as scheduled.
• Maintains grounds clean as scheduled.
• Powers, washes and removes gum from entrances as scheduled.
• Blows parking structure and parking lots as scheduled.
• Sweeps and cleans as needed.
• Digs trenches on holes for piping, sprinkler heads, plants, etc.
• Mixes and pours concrete as required.
• Installs signs as needed.
• Paints road marking as needed.
• Plants flowers, bushes or trees as required.
• Patches holes in the pavement as needed.
• Moves, installs, replaces or removes car bumpers as needed.
• Removes debris from the roads as needed.
• Maintains and inspects all issues related to "Life Safety".
• Helps all other trades as needed.
• Assists in all drills and codes.
• Performs other general and routine general maintenance functions and repairs on a variety of ground matters.
• Perform routine inspection and cleaning of storm drains.
• Assists in construction, remodeling and maintenance projects.
• Conducts preventive maintenance and performs general safety checks related to grounds and equipment.
• Competently and safely operates ground machinery and tools.
• Ensures the safety of other staff and applies proper use of assigned personal protective equipment.
• Cuts and trims grass, paints, removes weeds, plants and prunes shrubs, flowers, bushes, etc.
• Waters landscaped areas, grass, plants, and flowers.
• Rakes and blows leaves.
• Sprays lawn, shrubs, and trees with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides.
• Cleans, power washes, and sweeps the sidewalks, parking lots, parking structures, and surrounding paved areas.
• Treats and applies sealants to sidewalks, asphalt, and wood.
• Inspects, identifies, and reports equipment and signs that need repair.
• Removes and transfers trash/garbage from the facility area.
• May assist in furniture and equipment moves throughout the facility.

Qualifications

License/Registration/Certification: Possession of a valid Florida Driver License with no more than 4 points.

Education: High School Diploma preferred.

Experience

Two to three years general maintenance mechanic experience including basic electrical and mechanical work is preferred.
