Mount Sinai Medical Center of Florida, Inc. in Miami Beach, FL is seeking a full-time Grounds Mechanic to join our Plant Engineering team.

The role involves maintaining outdoor spaces, operating grounds equipment, and assisting in construction, remodeling, and safety inspections to support hospital operations. The candidate will perform routine lawn care, site cleaning, trench work, concrete mixing, and signage installation while ensuring compliance with life-safety standards and safety

Qualifications

• General maintenance and groundskeeping experience.
• Ability to operate basic tools and machinery used in grounds maintenance.
• Capable of lifting and performing physical tasks as part of daily duties.

Responsibilities

• Empties trash cans and maintains grounds as scheduled.
• Keeps entrances, parking structures, and lots clean and safe.
• Digs trenches, mixes and pours concrete as required.
• Plants flowers, shrubs or trees and waters landscaped areas.
• Inspects storm drains and life-safety concerns; supports drills and codes.
• Operates ground machinery safely and uses PPE.
• Performs routine maintenance and assists other trades as needed.
• Removes debris and maintains pavement and signs.

Empties all trash cans as scheduled.* b. Maintains grounds clean as scheduled.* c. Powers, washes and removes gum from entrances as scheduled.* d. Blows parking structure and parking lots as scheduled.* e. Sweeps and cleans as needed.* f. Digs trenches on holes for piping, sprinkler heads, plants, etc.* g. Mixes and pours concrete as required.* h. Installs signs as needed.* I. Paints road marking as needed.* j. Plants flowers, bushes or trees as required.* k. Patches holes in the pavement as needed.* l. Moves, installs, replaces or removes car bumpers as needed.* m. Removes debris from the roads as needed.* n. Maintains and inspects all issues related to "Life Safety".* o. Helps all other trades as needed.* p. Assists in all drills and codes.* Performs other general and routine general maintenance functions and repairs on a variety of ground matters.* Perform routine inspection and cleaning of storm drains.* Assists in construction, remodeling and maintenance projects.* Conducts preventive maintenance and performs general safety checks related to grounds and equipment.* Competently and safely operates ground machinery and tools. Ensures the safety of other staff and applies proper use of assigned personal protective equipment.* Cuts and trims grass, paints, removes weeds, plants and prunes shrubs, flowers, bushes, etc. Waters landscaped areas, grass, plants, and flowers. Rakes and blows leaves.
