Job summary

Texas State University—Campus Recreation seeks a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Worker II to maintain attractive, safe, and well-kept grounds on the San Marcos campus. You will perform mowing, trimming, litter pickup, chemical weed control, and field preparation for games, while maintaining equipment and meticulous logs.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of turf maintenance and chemical handling, with reliable math and record-keeping skills.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of: Safe operation of equipment; equipment maintenance; chemical application and laws regarding chemical applicators; athletic field layouts; athletic field marking equipment; irrigation controllers.
• Skill in: Writing work logs, chemical records and mileage books; working as a team member.
• Ability to: Read MSDS , equipment manuals, and labels; perform basic math.

• Skill in: Working with others and operating equipment; effectively communicate with others; problem solving and decision making.
• Ability to: Read and understand MSDS , equipment manuals, chemical labels, and field equipment; prepare work logs and chemical records; perform basic math; operate various types of equipment.
• Texas Department of Agriculture –Pesticide Applicators License.
