Job summary

Town of Gilbert is seeking a motivated Grounds Maintenance Worker I - Part Time for Team Gilbert. The position is at Cactus Yards, with an expected 20-26 hours per week and occasional weekend shifts.

You will perform turf maintenance and landscape tasks under supervision and support a safe, clean, and attractive public space. The ideal candidate has a High School Diploma or GED, up to six months of related experience, and a valid Arizona driver license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Six months previous experience and/or training in grounds maintenance or related fields.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
• Valid Arizona Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Performs turf maintenance cultural practices utilizing motorized equipment.
• Mows, trims, weeds, plants, fertilizes, waters and prunes as part of landscape care.
• Performs general cleanup duties including trash removal, graffiti removal and litter pickup.
• Maintains trees using chainsaws, stump grinders, pole saws and chippers.

Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Grounds Maintenance Worker I - Part Time. There are three current vacancies - this posting is only for the vacancy outlined below. All vacancies may require weekend availability:

• One part-time, non-benefited position at Cactus Yards expected to workbetween 20-26 hours per week.

The Grounds Maintenance Worker - reports to the Grounds Maintenance Worker III.

The primary job duties of this position include:

• Performs turf maintenance cultural practices utilizing motorized equipment.
• Performs mowing, trimming, weeding, planting, cultivation, fertilization, watering and pruning operations
• Performs general landscape and cleanup duties, including trash and debris removal, graffiti removal and litter pickup.
• Performs tree maintenance utilizing chainsaws, stump grinders pole saws and chippers.

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
• Six months previous experience and/or training in grounds maintenance, athletic field maintenance, irrigation system maintenance, equipment operation, and manual labor.
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
• Valid Arizona Driver License

The ideal candidate will have knowledge and skills in the following areas:

• Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations and/or ordinances
• Skill in equipment operation including multi and single deck mowers, utility vehicles, tractors and attachments including aerators, gannons, top dresser, vacuum, rotiller, etc.
• Skill in power tool operation including chainsaw, polesaw, stump grinder, auger, jackhammer, hedge trimmer, etc.
• Skill in cleaning and maintenance of facilities
• Skill in working in a team environment and have customer service skills

This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt – eligible for overtime compensation.
