Job summary

The Oregon Military Department in Salem, Oregon, is recruiting for a permanent Grounds Maintenance Worker 2. This full-time state position is represented by AFSCME.

You will perform grounds maintenance duties and operate motorized equipment, supporting the department’s operations. Applicants must hold a valid driver's license, be able to obtain a Public Pesticide Applicators license within 6 months, and undergo background checks.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
• This position requires travel within the geographic boundaries of the assigned maintenance area.
• Must obtain and maintain a Public Pesticide Applicators license within 6 months of employment.
• Criminal background check and DoD NACI suitability determination are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides grounds maintenance activities including maintaining road and parking lot surfaces.
• Performs mowing, weed removal, planting, pruning, fertilizing, clearing brush and leaves.
• Operates tractors, mowers, sweepers and other grounds equipment safely and efficiently.
• Orders, applies and records pesticide applications.
