Job summary

Beaverton School District 48J is seeking a Maintenance Worker 2 - Grounds to manage athletic fields, turf maintenance, and irrigation across district facilities. The role builds on a Level I foundation, operating heavy equipment and guiding entry-level staff on assignments.

Qualified candidates will have a HS diploma or GED and 2–3 years of groundskeeping or landscape experience, with a valid Oregon driver’s license. A pesticide applicator license is preferred or obtainable within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years of progressive groundskeeping/athletic field maintenance experience.
• Valid Oregon driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Public Pesticide Applicator License preferred or obtainable within 6 months.
• Proficient in operating heavy power equipment and basic irrigation plumbing.

Responsibilities

• Advanced Turf & Field Management for multiple high school/community fields.
• Operate heavy commercial grounds machinery safely (tractors, backhoes, mowers).
• Inspect and maintain automated irrigation systems and fix leaks or damaged heads.
• Lead small work crews on assigned tasks and assist planning seasonal projects.
• Identify weed/disease pressures and apply approved fertilizers per policy.
