Job description

This position, under the direction of the Park Facilities Program, is responsible for day-to-day care of our marina, docks, event grounds, and waterfront including but not limited to: the care and maintenance of turf, docks, parks, building, and city sponsored events throughout the City.

Union Affiliation: Non-Union
Pay Grade:$19.15 Hourly
Remote Tier 1:Zero (0) days remote/week.

  • High level of customer service in a public atmosphere.
  • Able to work efficiently on an independent basis.
  • Able to work nights and weekends.
  • Assist in the maintenance of turf care to include: moving, weed whacking, seeding and aerating.
  • Clean restrooms regularly. This includes sweeping/mopping, restocking supplies, wiping down all surfaces including all sinks, urinals, and toilets.
  • Assist in the collection of refuse in the park system.
  • Perform safe work practices for vehicle and power equipment in the public work site.
  • Be a park advocate, which includes providing excellent customer feedback, notifying park supervisors if undesirable activity, damage, excessive littering, etc. exists within a park.
  • Ability to actively support City diversity, equity, and cultural competency efforts within stated job responsibilities and work effectively across diverse cultures and constituencies.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as evidenced by ongoing trainings and professional development.
  • Ability to have and maintain a valid drivers license. Operation of City vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct City business without providing proof of a valid driver’s license to Human Resources will not be permitted. A valid driver’s license shall be defined as a current state of residence-issued license to operate a motor vehicle on public roadways. Position also requires the ability to be covered under the City’s vehicle insurance policy prior to operation of any City vehicles or non-City vehicles for City business.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to operate a 1 ton truck with trailer preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate power equipment, including but not limited to: agricultural tractors, commercial riding movers, push mowers, pressure washers, string trimmers, and small hand tools.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform routine and basic maintenance on grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both public and staff.
  • Ability to work well with others and individually.
  • Experience in landscaping and turf maintenance is desirable.
