Job summary

Conner Prairie is seeking a Grounds Crew member to maintain non-historic public areas, plant beds, and assist with irrigation and landscape upkeep. The role includes tree trimming, lawn care, and seasonal snow removal to ensure safe, clean, and attractive grounds around the museum.

Applicants should be able to perform physical tasks, work with chemicals per safety guidelines, and support various grounds-related duties as needed by the facilities team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintains physical condition and appearance of all non-historic public areas.
• Prunes trees and hedges, mows lawn, removes weeds, edges walkways and maintains exterior areas.
• Mixes and applies fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals following manufacturer’s directions and guidelines.
• Prepares soil for planting and maintains beds and grass around buildings.
• Maintains irrigation systems, pathways and paved surfaces; helps with snow removal from parking and pedestrian areas.
• Identifies and assists with exterior repairs; provides assistance as needed in other areas of Conner Prairie.
