Position Overview
The Bureau of Human Resources and Administration – Building and Grounds is seeking a Grounds Keeper. The incumbent will maintain lawns, trees, flowers, shrubs, parking lots, and sidewalks using hand and power tools, landscaping equipment, and related machinery to keep the Capitol Complex well cared for and maintained. Responsibilities
- Maintain grounds, landscaping, and parking areas with hand and power tools and equipment.
- Lift furniture and complete office moves when required.
- Work outdoors in all types of weather.
- Follow general instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (50+ lbs.) and other physical labor.
- Operating motorized vehicles, hand and power tools, and related equipment.
- Work schedule: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday‑Friday, with flexibility for outside normal hours.
- Knowledge of gardening and grounds maintenance practices.
- Prior experience operating medium and large equipment is beneficial.
- Provide good customer service and tact when interacting with state agencies, co‑workers, and the public.
