Job summary

SUNY Geneseo Facilities Services seeks a Facility Operations Assistant 1 (Grounds) to perform routine manual tasks to maintain campus grounds, roads, and landscaping. You will operate equipment including mowers, tractors, forklifts, pallet jacks, power tools, dollies, hand trucks, and more.

Your duties include maintaining athletic fields, fences, signs, walkways and general grounds upkeep. You may work outdoors in varying weather, with shifts on a 40-hour workweek and occasional overtime as

Qualifications

• There are no education or experience qualifications for this class. Applicants must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and be able to understand and carry out written or oral instructions. When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.
• Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Maintain grounds, roads, and landscape, including planting and mulching.
• Operate lawnmowers, tractors, plows, and related landscaping equipment.
• Perform general labor such as lifting, cleaning, and maintenance of tools.
• Mix and apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.
