Job summary

The SUNY Geneseo Facilities Department seeks a reliable Facility Operations Assistant 1 (Grounds) to contribute to campus maintenance and landscaping. You will join a grounds crew performing routine tasks with physical effort and operate a range of tools and equipment.

This full-time, permanent position requires availability for a 40-hour week, with overtime as needed, and may involve outdoor work in various weather conditions on College Circle, Geneseo NY.

Qualifications

• There are no education or experience qualifications for this class.
• Must be physically able to perform the tasks and follow written or oral instructions.
• When required to operate motor vehicles, incumbents must possess a valid New York State driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle being operated.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine manual tasks with medium to heavy physical effort to maintain and repair buildings, roads, offices, furniture, facilities, and campus landscaping.
• Operate tools and equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, power tools, dollies, hand trucks, mowers, weed eaters, and tractors as part of a work crew.
• Work a 40-hour week with possible overtime and weekend shifts; outdoor work in various weather conditions.
