Job summary

The City of Laredo is seeking a maintenance worker to uphold City facilities and grounds. The role involves landscaping, graffiti removal, and light maintenance tasks performed outdoors with occasional indoor duties.

You will operate equipment, drive trucks, and assist in servicing events while maintaining accurate records of work performed. Applicants must be 18+, hold a Texas driver license, and be prepared for background checks and pre-employment drug testing.

Qualifications

• Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
• Valid Texas Driver License; out-of-state license requires Texas license within 6 months of employment.
• Background check and certified school transcripts required for all applicants offered employment.
• Drug and alcohol test required prior to employment.
• Reasonable accommodation requests may be made to Human Resources.

Responsibilities

• Maintain landscaping: planting, watering, edging, mowing, trimming trees and hedges.
• Picks up trash and debris; erases graffiti; cleans and maintains grounds.
• Perform minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, and light maintenance tasks.
• Operate tractor/mower and drive trucks to haul debris; maintain city vehicles and equipment.
• Set up for services/events and provide customer service; breakdown after events.
• Prepare and maintain accurate work records; perform related duties as required.
