Job summary

City of Laredo is seeking a Maintenance Worker to perform groundskeeping, repair tasks, and basic facility maintenance at city facilities. Responsibilities include mowing, pruning, graffiti removal, debris cleanup, and helping with plumbing and electrical tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Valid Texas Driver License; out-of-state license requires Texas license within 6 months.
• Background check and certified school transcripts required for all applicants.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing required.

Responsibilities

• Plant, water, fertilize, edge, and cut grass; rake leaves; prune trees and hedges.
• Check grounds for vandalism; remove graffiti and repaint as needed.
• Pickup and dispose of trash and debris; sweep sidewalks.
• Perform minor carpentry; clean AC filters; replace light bulbs; basic painting.
• Operate tractor mower and trucks; maintain city vehicles (oil/gas/water).
• Assist plumbing repairs (sprinkler systems; pipes and fittings); assist with sinks and fixtures.
