Job summary

The City of Laredo is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support City facilities through groundskeeping, landscaping, and janitorial tasks. You will operate heavy equipment, maintain landscapes, and assist with general facility upkeep.

Responsibilities include mowing, edging, weed control, trash removal, and basic repairs. Outdoor work in varied conditions is common; position requires a valid Texas driver license and adherence to city policies.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid Texas Driver License required; out-of-state license must convert to TX within 6 months.
• Background check and transcripts required for employment.
• Drug and alcohol testing required for selected applicants.

Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance: mow, edge, fertilize, prune, weed control.
• Rake leaves, trash pickup, and graffiti removal; sweep sidewalks.
• Carry out minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and painting tasks as needed.
• Operate tractors, mowers, and city vehicles; routine vehicle maintenance.
